Monday

Following a morning departure we travel to Portsmouth where we board the ferry for the short crossing across the Solent to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight. On arrival we travel to Shanklin. Here we spend four nights at the Bourne Hotel. This is a family run hotel located in an elevated position at the foot of Luccombe Downs providing elegant

accommodation and spectacular views.


Tuesday

Today our first stop is Godshill village with its thatched cottages, model village, gift shops

and tea rooms. Afterwards we travel via Yarmouth to Alum Bay for views of the sand cliffs, the Needles and lighthouse. We return to Shanklin along the scenic coast road.


Wednesday

This morning we have time to explore Shanklin. The old village is full of picturesque cottages clustered around the thatched Crab Inn. Maybe visit the tranquil Shanklin Chine. In the afternoon we travel to Ventnor Botanical Gardens. Basking in the micro climate of the undercliff these are one of the great gardens of Britain.


Thursday

Today we travel to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s island retreat. Highlights include the lavishly furnished state rooms and the glorious gardens. Later we travel to the award winning Isle of Wight Steam Railway for a journey that will take you back in time.


Friday

This morning we travel to Fishbourne for the short crossing to Portsmouth. On arrival in Portsmouth we continue our journey towards home. Making the usual refreshment stops we arrive during the late afternoon.
