Staying at the Hotel Coral Platja Roses, Costa Brava
Sunday 15th - Monday 23rd September 2019

Making an early start we make our way to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. From Calais we head down through France passing Arras, Saint Quentin, Troyes. We make comfort stops en-route and arrive at our overnight hotel in Dijon late afternoon.

Today we make our way to the holiday destination of Roses on the Costa Brava. Our hotel for our 6-night stay is the Hotel Coral Platja. Enjoy unlimited Tea, Coffee, Wine, Beer and Soft Drinks (between 20.00 - 22.00) during our stay.

We drive to Villefranche de Conflent, situated in a French Mountain Valley, on the Spanish border today for an exciting and exhilarating experience on Le Petit Train Jaune. This narrow gauge electric railway travels through the eastern Pyrenees to the highest railway station in France at 5000ft. Ride through superb, outstanding scenery as this little train journeys through chasms, over ravines and viaducts to give us an unforgettable 63km experience. Our coach will meet us at Latour de Carol to take us back to Roses in time for dinner and some live musical entertainment.

Today we have a relaxing morning in Roses. Why not take a stroll along the beach front and enjoy the view? This afternoon we drive to the pretty whitewashed village of Cadaques, a maze of pretty, narrow streets that tumble down to the water plus stylish art galleries that mingle effortlessly with souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. Time in this picturesque location completes a very pleasant day.

A full day excursion today to Barcelona. Perhaps start with a stroll along the wide promenade of Las Ramblas. Explore the narrow alleyways, boutique shops and tapas bars. Antoni Gaudi was the architect of some of the buildings here and the eye-catching ones to look out for are Parc Guell and the magnificent Church of the Sagrada family. Don’t forget your camera.

A day to relax in Roses. Sunbathe on the beach, explore the old town of Roses or maybe take a trip on a glass bottomed boat for a scenic view of the coastline.

Our excursion today is to cross the Spanish border into France to visit the charming medieval town of Perpignan. The small centre of the town lies just south of the River Basse and is framed by the peaks of the Pyrenees. Its narrow streets and palm shaded, open squares are a delight to explore. The town has many museums and well worth exploring is the Palace of the Kings of Majorca. This lies on the edge of the old town and has lovely views towards the coast.

We leave our Spanish resort this morning and retrace our journey over the border and through France for our overnight stop at the Hotel Ibis Dijon Gare.

From Dijon we return to Calais for our ferry crossing to Dover. Re-joining the coach at Dover we complete our homeward journey arriving during the evening.
