North Wales –
Coast and Country
Staying at: Beaufort Park Hotel, Mold
Monday 16th - Friday 20th August 2021
Monday: We board our coach and begin our journey to North Wales, to a dramatic and picturesque corner of this area. We have included a variety of excursions of land, sea and rail designed to provide a delightful five day holiday. We will stay at the three star, comfortable, Beaufort Park Hotel which is just a short distance from the historic market town of Mold. We will be welcomed with tea/coffee and Bara Brith cake.
Tuesday: This morning we visit Conwy, one of Britain’s best preserved medieval towns. Its ancient walls enclose a town of narrow cobbled streets, full of historic buildings and dominated by a castle. From Conwy we head to Beaumaris which is in the Southeast corner of Anglesey. From Beaumaris we have arranged a 75 minute Puffin island wildlife cruise. With an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat we can look out for seabirds, grey seals and maybe bottle nose dolphins. After this relaxing cruise we round off the day with a scenic drive through the Snowdonia National Park en route to our hotel.
Wednesday: Our excursion today takes us south over the Spectacular Horseshoe Pass to Llangollen. Once in Llangollen there will be time for a coffee before boarding for a horse-drawn boat trip along the canal. A very pleasant and relaxing way to view the rich variety of flora and fauna in this part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following our boat trip we make our way to the National Trust property of Erddig Hall, built in 1864 -1867 for Josiah Edisbury. Erddig Hall is one of the country’s finest stately homes, set on a dramatic escarpment over the Clywedog River. This stately home is famous for its unusual relationships with its servants who’s rooms and portraits are carefully preserved. Upstairs is a treasure trove of fine furniture and outside is a splendid, fully restored 18th century garden.
Thursday: First stop today is Ruthin, here we have some time to explore and experience this small town. On then to Bala for a delightful steam train journey through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The 9 mile return journey alongside Bala Lake gives excellent views of the lake and surrounding scenery.
Friday: We leave North Wales this morning and make our homeward journey. We make a lunch stop en route and arrive home late afternoon.
