Norfolk - A Royal Retreat

Staying at: The Mercure Hotel, Norwich

Thursday 19th - Sunday 22nd May 2022

We board our coach and make our way eastward, passing Cambridge and on to our hotel which is just 2.5 miles outside of the beautiful city of Norwich. This is our base for a 3 night stay where we can enjoy the best this area has to offer.

This morning we have a 2 hour guided tour of Norwich, by coach and on foot.

This afternoon the highlight of the tour is a visit to Sandringham House, Her Majesty’s Norfolk retreat.

Built for Edward V11, Sandringham has passed through generations of royals but the decor remains true to it’s Edwardian heritage. The fascinating museum is home to a number of vintage royal vehicles and commemorative china. A rare chance to glimpse into the life and one of the homes of the royal family.

If you like the Broads this is a day not to be missed. We first explore the beautiful Broads with a journey on the Bure Valley Steam Railway before transferring to Wroxham Bridge for a leisurely Broads cruise. To complete a perfect day we can enjoy an afternoon beside the seaside with a trip to the coastal town of Great Yarmouth and it’s Golden Mile of attractions.

We leave The Mercure after breakfast and make our leisurely homeward journey with comfort stops on route.
