1066 Country - Eastbourne
Staying at: Langham Hotel, Eastbourne
Monday 24th - Friday 28th August 2020
We board our coach this morning and make our way across country to the lovely resort of Eastbourne. Our hotel has a sea front location and a perfect base for our holiday.
This morning we visit Battle Abbey where we enjoy an audio guided tour of the Abbey ruins. We can stand on the very spot where King Harold and William the Conquerer clashed at the Battle of Hastings. There is also a Victorian walled garden and a visitor centre. We then spend the afternoon at the award winning Pashley Manor Gardens.
Our excursion today is to Brighton. We spend the day here where there is plenty to keep us occupied. There is the stunning Victorian Brighton Pier, the historic Brighton Bandstand, the Madeira lift, Brighton Museum, the Royal Pavilion, i360 - the 162 metre observation tower and, of course, the beach.
Today we visit the Carr Taylor Vineyard at Westfield for a tour tasting and lunch. The afternoon is spent at leisure exploring Hastings Old Town.
We leave Eastbourne this morning for our homeward journey making refreshment stops en route. We arrive home early evening.
