YORK
Staying at the Gateway to York Hotel
Monday 5th – Friday 9th May 2008
5 Days

Day 1
After a morning departure we travel northwards to York and the Gateway to York Hotel where we spend 4 nights. The hotel is a 3* family run hotel set in 8 acres of landscaped gardens running down to the river at the rear.

Days 2 - 4
During our stay we have time at leisure to enjoy this lovely city and its many attractions, these include the National Railway Museum, the Yorvik Viking Centre, the magnificent Minster and York Castle Museum, we also have an excursion to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with stops in Pickering, the beautiful olde-worlde town of Thirsk, this was home of the legendary vet who wrote under the pseudonym of James Herriot we return via the historic city of Ripon, we also visit the lovely Georgian town of Harrogate.

Day 5
After breakfast we board our coach and leave York and short the homeward journey, we make a stop in the Peak District at Matlock Bath, during the afternoon we continue towards home, arriving during the early evening.
