SCOTLAND - INVERNESS
Staying at the Ramada Hotel, Inverness
Sunday 21st – Sunday 28th June 2009
8 Days

Day 1
Following a morning departure we travel through the Midlands, the Northwest and on passing the Lake District towards the Scottish Border from here we continue towards Glasgow and onto Drymen, here we spend 2 nights at The Winnock Hotel.

Day 2
Today we have a full day in The Trossachs region making stops in Callander and Aberfoyle.

Day 3
We leave Drymen this morning and travel along the banks of Loch Lomond to Crainlarich and on passing Glencoe to Fort William, here we make a stop for lunch, we continue on passing the Highland region and the beautiful countryside that comes with it, we arrive in Inverness during the late afternoon where we spend four nights at the Ramada Hotel.

Day 4
A free day in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, despite being the largest city in the North, it is more like a town in its atmosphere with a compact and easily accessible centre Inverness earns a worthy reputation for its floral displays in Summer, and for the River Ness which flows through the centre and adds considerable charm.

Day 5
Today we have a spectacular train ride to the Kyle of Lochalsh, overlooking the Isle of Skye, this is undoubtedly one of the most scenic rail journeys in Britain, on arrival we board our coach and cross the Skye Bridge to the small town of Kyleakin, later we return to Inverness through Glen Carron.

Day 6
A day to the attractive Victorian coastal resort of Nairn, with a prime location on the Moray Firth Nairn is steeped in history and is closely linked with the Battle of Culloden, the final land battle to take place on the mainland. Later we visit the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre; here the exhibition allows the whole Culloden story to be told in an innovative and interactive way.

Day 7
Today we leave Inverness, our journey takes us via Aviemore on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park and onto the popular town of Pitlochry where we make a stop for lunch, during the day an optional whisky distillery visit will be offered by the driver, later we continue to the lovely city of Perth, once the capital of Scotland, here we spend the night at the Queens Hotel.

Day 8
After breakfast we leave Perth, our journey takes us past Stirling with fine views of its elevated castle and on passing Glasgow; we make a stop in the popular town of Moffat, our last in Scotland. We continue on passing the Lake District through the North West region and on towards home making the usual comfort stops en-route, we arrive home during the early evening.
