Day 1
Following a morning departure we travel to the Northeast city of Newcastle, where we board our cruise ferry for the overnight sailing to Bergen.

Day 2
A day at sea and later calling in at Stavanger and Haugesund as the ship follows the Norwegian coast. This beautiful journey, cursing close to the shore and through the islands offers lovely views as we make our way to Bergen for an evening arrival, once we are here we can either unwind on board ship or take a stroll into the centre of Bergen along the famous “Bruggen” an evening trip on the Mount Floyen funicular is recommended, tonight is spent on ship in Bergen harbour.

Day 3
This morning we board our coach and disembark the ship, we spend a few hours in Bergen, with its busy harbour, fish market, shops and restaurants. “The capital of the Fjords”, Bergen is a delightful maritime city. We have a guided sightseeing tour (by coach & foot) and time at leisure to enjoy the lovely city. During the afternoon we travel to Voss where we spend four nights at the Fleischers Hotel.

Day 4
A full day Sognefjord circular, from Voss we travel over the Vik mountains to the small town of Vik, we make a stop at the Hopperstad stave church and then onto Vangsnes for the short ferry ride to Hella, from Hella we travel to Leikanger and into Sogndal for a lunch stop, from here we continue to Kaupanger and visit the Sogndal Folk Museum, following our stop here we travel to Mannheller for the short sailing to Fodnes then on through Laerdal, this small town boasts a street of traditional wooden houses, then on via the tunnel between Laerdal and Aurland (at 24.5 kms it is the longest road tunnel in the world) we return to Voss via Flaim.

Day 5
Today we travel over the mountains from Voss down to Ulvik, known as the “pearl of the Hardanger” and one of the most beautiful spots in the fjord country, from Ulvik we continue to Bruravck and board the ferry to Brimmes and onto the town of Eidfjord where we make a stop. Later we continue to the Voringfoss Waterfall, the highest in Norway, we return to Voss via the ferry from Brimmes to Bruravck.

Day 6
A full day on the popular “Norway in a nutshell” excursion, it is one of Norway’s greatest highlights, we board the train in Voss and travel to Myrdal, change trains for the journey to Flam this is a spectacular descent with unforgettable views of the mountains and waterfalls, there are many photo opportunities en-route. At Flam we have time at leisure before boarding the Fjord cruiser to Gudvangen, sailing down the narrow Naeroyfjord with steep cliffs rising on both sides of the boat, at Gudvangen we meet our coach for the return to Voss, stopping at the famous Stalheim viewpoint en-route.

Day 7
After breakfast we board our coach and travel from Voss to Bergen, here we board our cruise ferry for the return crossing, calling in at Haugesund and Stavanger and then overnight to Newcastle.

Day 8
We arrive in Newcastle around lunchtime where we rejoin our coach and commence the journey towards home; we arrive during the evening at the end of this memorable holiday.
