The Peak District

Monday

Following a morning departure we travel through the Midlands into South Yorkshire. Making the usual refreshment stops en-route we arrive at The Mercure Kenwood Hall Hotel during the afternoon. Located in a pleasant leafy suburb of Sheffield the hotel has a lovely ornamental lake and views across the Derbyshire Dales.

Tuesday

This morning we visit the historic town of Buxton, renowned for its healing waters and Pavilion Gardens set in 23 acres of Victorian landscaping. Later we continue to Lyme Park and step back in time to the Edwardian age, Lyme’s Golden Era. Enjoy the house with it’s lavish interiors, beautiful gardens and enchanting lake where a certain Mr Darcy appeared in the production of “Pride and Prejudice”.

Wednesday

Today we travel to Crich and to the Tramway village. A lovingly restored period village that is home to to the National Tramway Museum. Exhibitions bring to life the history of the tram and visitors can ride on the restored Tramways. Other attractions include a workshop and viewing gallery, an old fashioned sweetshop and a restored public house. Afterwards we continue to the pretty town of Ashbourne.

Thursday

This morning we travel to the popular town of Bakewell. Home of the Bakewell Pudding. After some time here we drive the short distance to Chatsworth House and Gardens, the highlight of this tour. This magnificent house is the home of the Devonshire family. With its lavishly furnished and decorated interior plus vast grounds and gardens the house has appeared in several period dramas.

Friday

Today we board our coach and commence the homeward journey. Making the usual

refreshment stops we arrive during the afternoon.
